Beethoven had his consultation last week complete with ultrasound,
doppler readings plus blood pressure. The ultrasound confirmed the hcm
      diagnosis.

Beethoven is now taking a quarter of 25 mg. of Atenolol twice a day - a
tiny little tablet and even tinier when broken - and had a diet change
to Hills k/d Prescription Diet to help his kidney function. He loves
the diet and it was an easy switch from Science Diet to the Rx version.
Since starting the Atenolol, his activity level has increased and he is
taking a great deal of interest in chasing sunbeams and batting around
his toys. He is still as cuddly as ever and enjoys his quality time
      with Mum on the couch.

His medication was filled by the local pharmacy and came complete with a
label not to drive or operate heavy machinery until he knew the limits
of the effects of the medication!

We will now establish a monitoring schedule with the local vet and the
specialist doesn't want to see him for six months.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and comments.

      Beth

... Thanks for the chuckle. We got the same label with Diltiazem for Lucie. I told her she could not operate her toys after taking her medication! Anyes,
