My post stated that the in-house snap test was only used as an indicator "but all is still going to the lab for more
comprehensive testing". i am expecting a call from my vet tomorrow with the labs results.
This is simply the first line of defense. I am confident an ultrasound will be done, if necessary.
Thanks for your concern,

Next time you want to ask for the blood test that is sent out to test for
pancreatitis, called Spec fPL. I don't trust the snap test. The blood test will
give you a number if the pancreas is affected. The snap test only gives a yes or
no. Also with a yes or no there's really no way to retest to know if any
progress has been made if therapy is applied. Therapy is only supportive: pain
meds, nausea meds, daily sub cue fluids and diet needs to be looked into.
Also many times both tests are inaccurate. Sometimes the only way to know if
pancreas is affected is ultrasound. This is how it was diagnosed in one my my
cats. I've had 4 cats with pancreatitis in the past 2 years. Symptoms are
basically ADR or ain't doing right.

concerned about diabetes, but was concerned about her pancreas. She ordered a
complete blood work, urinalysis and pancreas test. The in house snap test
showed her pancreas was within normal range along with a electrolyte panel
(potassium, sodium, calcium etc).
