I have been involved in a rescue of 3 cats from a home where the owner was placed into an Alzheimers home. The cats, especially one is in very bad shape.

He had been practically eaten alive with fleas, coat all matted. White blood count of 32.2 (high) and Anemia (RBC 4.76) HCT of 20.8. He weighs 9 pounds and should weigh 15 and was also dehydrated.

He was hospitalized and given Clavamox which made him sick and was then transferred to Baytril and IV Fluids. Vet took an X-ray and feels that the heart is enlarged and significant fluid in the abdomen and around the heart. He was started on Enalapril .5mg 1/2 tab every 12 hours. Lasix 12.5 mg. 1/4 tablet every 12 hours. Vet through up her hands and said she could do no more for him and sent him home on the above meds.
There is no money to take this boy to a Cardiologist having already spent $600. to the vet thus far.

Today he appears to be building up more fluid, needs to be force fed and is showing signs of discomfort with rapid breathing (closed mouth).

He was tested for Bartonella and it is negative. Possibly FIP involved here now?

      Any suggestions would be appreciated.

      Sharon
