McLusky Record with Albini, Recruit New Drummer

No relation to McGruff, that trenchcoat-wearing spokesdog for narcs
      Chris Leslie-Hynan reports:

McLusky will be releasing a new single in the UK on August 25th
entitled "Undress for Success." Proving that these guys still set
the gold standard for song titles among garage rockers, the single
will appear along with b-sides "Join the Mevolution" and "The
Saltwater Solution." These tracks came from recent recording
sessions with Steve Albini that are expected to yield the full-
length follow-up to McLusky Do Dallas, which was our 24th favorite
record of last year. The new album does not yet have a release date,
which is to say (in hyphen-speak) that its date is as-yet-unknown.

The sounds of McLusky drummer Mat Harding banging away may end up on
the album, but apparently that's the last you'll ever hear of him,
at least on a McLusky record. Harding has left the band to join the
Cardiff band Transposer, which one of our friendly informants
describes as very shite. The band has gotten their revenge by
repeatedly calling Harding's house and asking to speak to "Tanya,"
and by replacing him with Jack Eggleston, who reportedly hits the
      drums "like a bastard."

Eggleston is on board for a couple more legs of touring: a small UK
tour is already scheduled for August, and a tour of the western U.S.
is promised before the year's end. According to McLusky's official
site, "The boys are back in the U.S. in November/December to do some
more recording and a West Coast tour that will include Seattle,
Portland, San Francisco and L.A. and then they go on to an
Australian tour that runs until December 21st. Full details of this
coming soon." We couldn't write a better run-on sentence describing
      it ourselves. Tour dates:

08-11 Cardiff, Wales - Clwb Ifor Bach
      08-12 Manchester, England - Roadhouse
      08-13 London, England - Garage
      08-14 Oxford, England - Zodiac
      08-15 Brighton, England - Freebutt
08-22 Reading, England - Reading Festival
08-23 Leeds, England - Leeds Festival
