      Greetings,

In the latest issue of Perfect Sound Forever
<http://www.perfectsoundforever.com>, you'll find (among other things):

      DAVID ACKLES
      His theater of melancholy
"Part of Ackles' ability to look at middle
America with a detached, analytical, critical,
but admiringly respectful, tone is that he can
adopt the insider/outsider status so well... as
with Lana Turner, Ackles was taken to Hollywood
in search of celluloid prosperity. He knew at an
early age the trappings of fame, the surreal
nonsense offered up on screens, a sort of
utilitarian Illinois logic coupled with the
aerial architecture symbolism of Los Angeles."

      DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS
      Dirty south interview
"Someday when students and scholars look back to
study Southern culture in the late 20th and early
21st century, they're going to dig through
periodicals, essays and books for information but
they'll also need to go through the back catalog
of a Athens, Georgia band if they want a more
complete picture. Now celebrating their 10th
      anniversary, Drive-By Truckers have just
unleashed their seventh album. Through it all,
they've dissected their roots but done so in a
way that would make their heroes Lynyrd Skynyrd
(or at least Ronnie Van Zant) proud."

      LENNY KAYE INTERVIEW
      CBGB reminiscing
Author Neil Levine: "I had visited with him while
researching a book on Hilly Kristal and CBGB, and
sought him out for his insight, recollections,
and general sense of what fits where, in the big
scheme of things. What follows is a small snippet
of what transpired. His appreciation for what
happened at CBGB, both for the Patti Smith Group
and for all the other bands involved with that
club, as well as his great feeling for the
potential and promise of live performance ran
very deep and was as heartfelt as anything I’ve ever experienced in rock."

      MARAH INTERVIEW
      Philly boys make good
"2006 - Dave and Serge agree to be interviewed
for Perfect Sound Forever. There are questions
they haven't been asked before. About being
brothers. About what success means for them. And
what being from Philadelphia really means. Not
just what the streets look like, smell like,
sound like – or the pigeons and the donut shops.
But what it means to have Philly in your heart.
How it can trip you up, but lift you up again."

We're always looking for good writers and/or
ideas so let us know if you have anything to share.

      See you online,
      Jason
