Arts Fest music lineup announced

Singer Raul Malo will leave The Mavericks at home when he spearheads
the musical component of the 47th Three Rivers Arts Festival, which
runs June 2-18 at Point State Park, Downtown. Rhythm and blues icon
Bettye LaVette performs June 9, trendy Tom Verlaine & the Eels play
June 10, and the festival will close with shows by Rosanne Cash June
17 and The Yellowjackets June 18.
Pittsburgh bands will have greater access to festival crowds with this
year's introduction of a Local Music Night, June 12, spotlighting The
Modey Lemon, Vale and Year, and Great Ants.
More local artists will perform at a musical Open Stage weekdays at
lunch time on the Second Stage. Candidates for the semi-invitational
Open Stage should send bios, press photos and MP3s or a CD to

Clark, 937 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Materials will be
accepted only from 9 a.m. Monday through 5 p.m. May 5.
