I definitely say July 17th. Usually the Chena Lake Tri is the day after
the Golden Days parade, so it would have been a problem to have an event
on the morning before it. However, since they are doing it a week
earlier this year, I think the 17th is great. There's a run every
Saturday of the summer, and although the Run of the Valkeries is one of
the Flint Hills Cup runs, it's not nearly as popular as some of the
other ones. Ramona Reeves seemed pretty keen on doing the Chena Splash
as a joint age-group / masters event the day before the Chena Lakes Tri,
have you gotten her input?
> We need to set a date ASAP for the Chena Splash next summer. Last year's date was Saturday June 27th. While that date seemed to work many people have mentioned moving it to July in the hope of warmer water and more participation.
> One possibility is Saturday
July 17th (conflict with Run of the Valkeries, but the day before the Chena lakes tri might bring in more swimmers from around the state). The other possibility is Saturday July 24th (conflict with the Golden mile and Golden days parade). To avoid some of these conflicts we could consider moving the event to the afternoon, but there would be more boats on the lake to deal with in the afternoon.
> I'd like some imput, but we have to decide by the end of the week because the paperwork needs to be in to USMS.
