When the extended family comes together this November be prepared
for the traditional inquiry regarding how the next family reunion
plans are coming along. You can simply answer "'great" or grovel
for help. I suggest neither. Take this time to give everyone an
update both in writing and in word. Ask them for their input
regarding how best to carrying out key actions items and commence
delegating those offering the most practical direction.

While most baby boomers and those slightly younger find family
reunion planning an enriching experience many time the younger
generation, those in the mid-twenties fall behind in both interest
and contributions toward the event. It's important to get them
      involved.

This time of year is a perfect opportunity to help your youth begin
some genealogy research and family reunion planning of their own.
Teens and younger children love to hear stories about their family
history and figure out their lineage. Their first few steps into
family research may reveal some things you yourself never knew
before, and may even motivate you to look further back into your
      distant ancestors' records.

Help your children to name some of the branches on your family
tree. While enjoying the family dinner, encourage the senior family
members to share stories of their younger days with the kids. Get
everyone engaged with some conversation starters, and print out some
interview questions the kids can use.

Move beyond the basics with a family tree activity, and your
genealogy research is off and running!
