Re: [Families of Angelman Syndrome] Face swelling, and pain. Jaw problems.
- I have never heard of any kind of jaw problems associated with Angleman's but I only heard of it less then 2 years ago. Have you asked at the Angelman site itself?
I hope your son feels better now.

Hi. I hope I am posting correctly, please let me know if not. (This
is my first post.)
I was at the after hours clinic until midnite last night. My son's
face swelled (just above the jaw lines on each side). He was on an
antibiotic (zithromax) and they gave him an allergy shot and
discontinued the antibiotic. He had a throat infection, that led to
the need for the antibiotics. I think I remember him having face
swelling before - a few years ago, and someone (a doctor @ the
hospital) said it was a jaw disorder that may affect angelman
syndrome persons. Anyone else have any experience with jaw problems
or face swelling? I am going back today to his regular doctor because
the after hours clinic felt unsure if it was actually an allergy.
They said it should not have happened in the third day of the anti -
biotics. They also (besides the injection into the hip) have put him
on steriods. I am not familiar with how steriods will affect him as
he has never used those before. He is 12 years old. By the way... I
was so frightened when they gave him the shot in the hip , but all he
did was laugh. I was the only one tearing up.
