TERRIFIC News Bart.  The support of the council is so important.  And glad they realize that this is not a negative statement on them – with their support it is becoming rather a positive statement on them that once again they are ready and willing to be innovative.  Thank you Bart.

Actually, I avoid Starbuck's.  No offence Emily.  ;-)  There are three that come to my mind as most likely to have mostly Glendale customers:  59th and T-Bird, 59th and Union Hills, and around 7000 block of west Bell Rd.

I'm impressed with how your and Jim's phone calling worked.  Connecting with one person brought us 4 or 5 family members.  Maybe there is some way to replicate that.  Phone calls in advance of a drive-up Sunday might be productive.. .

BTW, we should enlist that young Simpson boy as a volunteer.  Seriously.

We should also be considering going door-to-door.

We need to keep the publicity up so that people are ready and anxious to sign when asked.

I met with another city councilman this morning.  He and his wife read yesterday's article and agreed they would sign even before I met with him.  He has agreed to publicly endorse as well.  We are now 4 for 4 with the council.  One more and the Mayor to go...

Emily, Do you or Bart frequent a favorite Starbuck location?  If you are regulars at a location, they may be more receptive to you asking if we can petition there.  Linda

Concerning petitioning opportunities ... Bart and I had been talking about Starbuck's.  Whether we could get a friendly starbuck's manager to let us set up shop inside or outside a Starbuck's (maybe especially if we buy a lot of their mini scones to give to the signers...).

I hear BBG was mentioned in their newscast this morning as well.  I've been looking for a clip online, but nothing yet.  Maybe we can get then from the station.

      Hi Bart,

They used to replay their 10:00 pm news around 1:30 a.m.  I would check the TV guide from the paper.  I think they still rebroadcast it in the middle of the night, I just don't remember what the current time of the rebroadcast is.

      Thx

Wow!  Do they have a sister station that might rebroadcast the news again later tonight.  Maybe we could get a copy?

I gave Andrew Simpson about 3 or 4 petitions, a board and the narrow flyers so that he could work Ironwood High School. Linda In a message dated 3/31/2008

        Hi Bart,

Excellent work with the city council!

I know that Starbucks took over the world in the 1990s and put a lot of smaller coffeehouses out of business, and  I don't cut them slack over that.  I do think they have decent coffee, but, it really does depend on whether one likes a dark roast or a medium or lighter roast.  Starbucks' taste appeals to people who like a dark roast or an espresso roast.

I can't say I've made myself well known at the various Starbucks in Glendale yet, but I should.  Let me give that some more thought.
