      Hi Jim!

      Does ClearCase use optimistic or pessimistic checkin/out?

      The idea seems to be that and optimistic source code control
      works best in an XP environment. as the Classes and Methods
      get smaller and integration cycles get quicker the collisions
      get rarer.

      Pessimistic locking on the other hand kind of adds a flavor
      of code ownership to the whole project. At least while a
      file is checked out, it is de facto owned by the checker-outer.

      That's my two-dimes worth.
