      BHANU PADMO :

       The Absurd and The
      Discreet

      Cowed
      down first by a sense of inexplicability
      And
      then by idea of god
      Obtrusively
      posing omnipresent,
      And succumbing
      furtively thus
      To god*s
      absurd insuperability
      And to the sense
      of insuperable omnipresence,
      Beyond the
      domain of glory he stands;
      The absurd
      man;
      Losing
      existence as time ticks.

      Ancient
      conceit yet he would cling on to
      Denying ever
      cleverly the truth
      Of own terminal
      defeat,
      Of receding
      self-existence.

      Existential
      isn*t thus he
      This
      dispirited absurd man;
      Ever bonded; vulnerable
      to riddle.

      Yonder in
      shadow swells the fierce and stolid
      Acknowledging
      reality of all forms;
      Insuperability
      he accepts;
      The
      insuperable he would surpass
      Through
      exposition appropriate,
      Impregnated
      with clues.

      God he would
      replace;
      Fountainhead
      of god he would invent;
      He, the
      discreet man;
      Living by an
      evolving objective
      Through own
      power, hermeneutical.

      To be awake
      to the moment he denies disparateness
      Of the past,
      present and future;
      Of man and
      god, so aptly conjured up.
      *Cause upon
      net of time, the moment is a mesh.
      And the net
      is the fountainhead he would be committed to.

      Memories of
      regrets and hopes,
      Of transient
      meanings
      He wouldn*t
      cast off;
      Yet two
      meshes he wouldn*t dwell
      Simultaneously,
      absurdly.

      *Cause he
      isn*t an absurd man;
      Two meanings
      he wouldn*t call apropos;
      Hope he
      wouldn*t split, nor a regret;
      *Cause he
      isn*t the absurd man,
      Forever
      dualist.
