      It always proves futile, though temporarily expedient, to arm, trade with, or war on the side of tyrants. I think the challenge lies in how best to cultivate, rather than impede, the inevitable unfolding of various forms of democracy.The possibility of Russia or China dominating the region has driven foreign policy since WWII. If we were sincerely concerned, we would be much further along with such encouragement. It makes little sense to rail against elites then adopt their false rationale. Quandries over state budgets and democracy movements abroad are connected, not in regard to limited resources, but by abandoned principles such as Right, Recognition, Reason, and Freedom. If there is no conceptual-philosophical underpinning for our actions, only fear and utility, why bother with pretext?
