      Alterity I and Otherness

[ Re: [existlist] Re: The Mask of Multiculturalism

      MAry,

Actually, I would contend that alterity is the only way out of the
      obstacle of
otherness, if it is appreciated in its full breadth and significance.
      Socialism
is the Weltanschauung of a proper alterity. "Objectivism" (Ayn Rand) is
      its
      defacement and repression. Wil ]

First: you will never ever work out the answer to the `I and
Otherness' question by thinking about it. Thinking does not arrive
at the answer and CANNOT. It might THINK that it can but it CANNOT.
Also, Otherness is not an obstacle.

Second: Humanity is not the least bit interested in the question of
`I and Otherness', and that I sure know well enough. I have
talked of it and written of for fifty years, it is ONE of the things
folks never pick up on. I have used two main forms: by referring to the
OBSERVER and the OBSERVED; and by using THE SELF and the NOT SELF. They
are NOT interested. So be it.

However, if any person did undergo the quest of trying to ascertain the
DUALITY and the reality of the distinction of the OBSERVER and the
OBSERVED then they are going to have to DIG DEEP. Very very DEEP.
      DEEPER than THINKING can go.

Then there is the question of ALTERITY and TRANSCENDENCE also written
about by philosophers by the thinking process. But as I say, thinking
will NEVER find it. However, how can they legitimately talk about the
OTHERNESS found in Transcendence when they have never even transcended
the thinking mind? So, my answer to them is PPHHHTT>! They talk a lot
hot air about nothing, and about what they do not KNOW. Thinking is not
KNOWING. IF you want to find out about the OTHERNESS found in
TRANSCENDENCE then GO THERE. It is there to be GOT AT. But you CANNOT
take thinking there with you. I KNOW, I went there.

Also, when you do find the realtionship between the I and THOU (self and
the not self) then comes the REAL learning about CONNECTIONS afterward
and before the SELF, and which includes THE ALL. To what are you
connected? First find out whare YOU ARE. And then what you are NOT. It
is all there top find and know. We are NOT left bereft of answers and
      KNOWING.
