I tried ,but I just couldn`t stay awake. The debate over health care burst forth on the tube but I just fell asleep. As I expected it was not about health care, they did not discuss disease or curing disease. It was all about who gets paid for generating the paper work that buries our attempts to control health care costs.
Obama knows all of this and so at the base of his reforms is a systems change that would put the paperwork into computers. That, as it stands ,is a good idea but the problem of all the present clerical personell remains. Those giant insurance companies that generate all that paper do not insert I.V.`s. They do not set bones, they do not suture wounds. They are not health care workers, they are bureaucrats who need separate definition. If they were defined as government employees we could control them but the corporate bosses do not want control. They want unrestricted access to all that money. Yes, this is a fight over money and it is important.
Acrossed the spectrum of business we find we are grossly top heavy with bureaucrats who are strangling the very industries they were meant to serve. They are fat and as expected they scream when we try to cut them off. Sure, it is their life too but they elected to become low level functionaries, they are data entry workers and technology has replaced their positions. Their bosses will have no one to boss and their executive positions will disappear. Those bosses live fat and they do not want to retrain, they do not want regulation, they only want the status quo which is no longer tenable. I think we have the votes to cause sizable change and so the debate is over for me. The more of the private carrier facade is cut away the better. I know they will still get their chunk but if it is cut back we have some progress. Overall business and the paper blizzard have grown to destructive levels. This is not a socialist revolution it is information processing progress that has winners and losers. Since the old corrupt system knows it cannot compete it digs in its heels and fights change. This is not that difficult. Bill
