      Louise,

I also become herd-like when watching football, so I will be tomorrow evening when I hope Gerrard and Rooney will tear into the Ukranian defence to ensure an England win.

I agree that many regimes which have called themselves `socialist' in the past have been nasty and brutish.

I usually think of the peace-loving Scandinavians as positive examples of the ability to create workable socialist societies.

      Jim

I simply know about, and feel very deeply, the crimes committed under its name, or related names, and have lived with this passion more or less for my entire adult life. I wonder, Jim, whether you have reflected on the Nietzschean terminlogy you use, in regard to your own life? Do you consider yourself a higher type, or a herd type? Does it depend on the domain of living under consideration? I mean, personally, I become very much herd-type, when watching a football international, in which England is playing. Socialism can be peaceable, of course, like supporting a football team. But there are some who give it all a bad name. L.
