      Does the elephant dance
In the woods or the pit,
      Mourning his brother, the bear?
      Does the wandering pilgrim chance
On a shrine in the open air?

      If the tiger be barred
      For his ignorant sins
      And the drama be ended
      Before it begins,
      How might we embark
      On a voyage unmade
      Into the present, dark?
      May walls collapse, and fade?

      There is only desire
      Walking through fire:
      The man and the tree,
      The other, agree.
