A message from TESOL's Publications Committee
- This message is on behalf of TESOL's Publications Committee. Please excuse multiple postings.
The Publications Committee has an open seat this year for someone with CALL expertise. Candidates need to know about the world of CALL and also have publishing experience at the book level. Educators working in EFL environments are very desirable.
Committee members are expected to participate actively in evaluating manuscripts. Members work throughout the year, communicating by mail, e-mail, telephone, and fax to offer guidance to potential authors. The committee also meets during the annual convention to evaluate the previous year's achievement and set a course for the coming year. Throughout the year, committee members are asked to review manuscripts in a timely manner and to suggest other reviewers who can comment on manuscripts and proposals within their areas of specialization. The Publications seat is for 3 years, and it's voluntary.
Committee members are expected to have a good knowledge of publications in the field of TESOL, to have a good background in TESOL, and to be able to read and evaluate manuscripts critically and offer suggestions for improvement. Familiarity with the process of writing for publication or with selecting professional books is an advantage. Knowledge of the needs of teachers and other members of the profession is also essential. EFL background is highly desirable.
