RE: [evonline2002_webheads] Latest news about session with Spanis h teachers :-)
- Dear Dafne,
I just got to reading your recount of what had to be a hair-raising
experience. Honestly, you made the best out of a bad situation, and what
more could you have done? I am absolutely sure if you asked for a show of
hands, you would find yourself in good company-these things do happen, and
they happen unexpectedly, but being the good teacher you are, you turned the
bad situation into a teaching moment. Locked doors-I've had them even at my
own institution. Now I know to call ahead of time to double-check that the
doors have been opened-this has saved me several times for chats with my
online class. I will also never forget the time that the Internet went down
in the Electronic Village during my presentation at the Internet Fair (this
never happens in the EV, right!!??), and then it happened again the next
day! Oh well, I did the same thing you did-I described what I had to say.
I'm glad you and the participants were able to reap the benefits of your
presentation anyway, and they all look very happy in the pictures!

Subject: [evonline2002_webheads] Latest news about session with Spanish
opps, I lost a long message I was writing :-(
Thanks Vance, Tere, Jean Michel,Bee, Mercedes, Bob, Maria Irene,
Claire (am I missing anyone?) for your words of support. I really
appreciate them and they make me even happier (if it is possible) of
being a Webhead.
The latest news is that the teachers who attended the session have
now joined the Yahoo Group I created for the session :-) That's a
great first step. Even though it was a one-day session, I promised to
help them out if they wrote me or posted a message to the group list.
I have to say that they never put the blame on me for the problem,
they were sad that they could not meet all those marvelous online
people I was talking about, and they were worried that they might be
online waiting to be contacted.
Of course that this experience will not make me slow down or quit, on
the contrary, the fight is to try to get all these teachers to be
included and ask for their rights to have access to the technologies
they are being asked to use.
Look at the pics I took:
(they do not look unhappy, do they?)
