      CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT REMINDER

IATEFL TTEd SIG (Teacher Trainers & Educators Special Interest Group) are pleased to announce a joint conference with Volkshochschule Koeln, in Cologne, Germany:

      18-20 June 2004

      Teacher Education: Cultures and Contexts

Deadline for proposals: 10 March 2004

Programmes of teacher education are situated within particular cultural contexts and need to reflect local needs; hence the need for appropriate methodologies in their implementation. At the same time, it is usually through the programmes of teacher education that teachers become acculturated to the world of teaching. And of course, intercultural competence needs to be high on the agenda of any teacher education programme.

This conference will seek to explore these and other aspects of culture in the world of teacher education. Papers, presentations and workshops are invited which will provide a variety of perspectives on this theme.

      Plenary Speakers:

      Prof. Hans Eberhard Piepho Germany

      Robert Gibson, Siemens AG, Germany

Adrian Holliday, Canterbury Christ Church University College, UK

Call for papers, Registration form, plenaries, and further information on the TTEd SIG website:

      http://www.ihes.com/ttsig/index2.asp

DEADLINE FOR THE CALL FOR PAPERS IS 10 MARCH 2004

      Best wishes,

      Nicky Hockly

      IATEFL TTEd SIG Co-ordinator
