Subject: Re: [evonline2002_webheads] WORLDCALL Awardees
I make Rita´s words mine! This scholarship to attend WorldCALL reflects what the Webheads community is all about. My professional achievements are intertwined with the collaborative projects, learning, sharing, caring that I´ve incorporated into my daily practices in the classroom and in the Ed Tech office.
2005 was my turning point, when I attended for the first time a TESOL International Conference in San Antonio. I met Vance, I was inspired by a presentation which left me in total awe when I saw Michael Coghlan singing in Australia, Bee Dieu in São Paulo, and Bobbi Stevens in her hotel room, all coming to the audience via Alado...
I first heard the word Webheads in San Antonio in a very early morning discussion group with Christine Bauer-Ramazzani. I was impressed by what she was saying. I was hooked! I promised to Vance, then, that I would join the Webheads group and understand what it meant to be part of that community.
I did, then it was EVO, a volunteer, collaborative project which is so dear to my heart. Being part of the EVO was another step further into immersing myself in the community spirit, truly open source learning, when nobody know what a MOOC was. By taking BaW (Becoming a Webhead) in EVO with dear Tere and Daf, I understood what it meant to make an online experience a humanized space for collaboration and sharing.
So, here I am now, 8 years later, doing what I love and having the chance to travel the world because of the Webheads. I´d never be where I am and who I am without you all. You all inspire me and are role models of the educators and people we should be!
Thanks with tears in my eyes.
See you soon, Rita and Jen!
Cheers from a happy Brazilian,
