      Does anyone know a simpler alternative map site or some way that I

        Maryanne,

        From what I see in the Frappr site, you only use those added features if you want to. I suggest you use it just the same, because it's very user-friendly and attractive.

        As an alternative, you have the Bravenet guest maps.

          Hi Teresa,

          Thanks for your suggestion of Bravenetfor a map as an alternative to
          Frappr. I did try it out, but found that I prefer Frappr. However,
          I'm having trouble adding the code for the sticker to my Blackboard
          account.

          When I add the code suggested on the widget page, it just shows up as
          code instead of the sticker. The code that I copied and pasted is

          <a href="http://www.frappr.com/lai684"><img
          src="http://www.frappr.com/i/frapper_sticker.gif" border="0"
          alt="Check out our Frappr!" title="Check out our Frappr!"></a>

          I don't know anything about html, but I must be doing something very
          basic very wrong. Any suggestions?

            Maryanne,

            Are you inserting the code in the right place? In FrontPage, for example, there's a normal page to keyboard my text and there's another, in a Code tab, where I have to insert the html for the effects I want to show up in the normal page.

            In my Motime blog editor, when I wnat to insert html code, I have to click on the Source tab.

            This is the code that I just copied from my Have Fun with English Frappr map banner:
            <embed quality="high" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" wmode="transparent" src="http://widget.slide.com/widgets/frapprticker.swf" name="flashticker" salign="l" align="middle" scale="noscale" width="400" height="130" flashvars="site=www.frappr.com/?a=slidewidget&gid=294587" bgcolor="#f5f5f5" />

            I copy-pasted it into FrontPage and it's working perfectly.

            I know very little about html, but looking at your code below and comparing it with the code for my Frappr animated banner in the motime blog, there seems at least to be a Flash component missing.

            I hope this may help shed some light. And I hope that someone who knows html may come in and help.

            Teresa

              Hi Maryanne-- Your html code looks to be the problem, I think. The / after login? should be a . And the first http code should be in quotes, not the second.

                <<<!-- <a href="http://address/address/login?">name of
                the site</a> and so on>>>

                (The extra << and ! above are to prevent the address
                from becoming html.)

                Let us know if that works.
