31787Learning2gether with Vance Stevens - Teaching Writing on iPad and Mobile Devices using Voice Tools
- Jun 4, 2015Greetings all,We had a great Learning2gether event last Sunday with Maria Colussa and her friends at Hello Little Worlds telling us about their idea for mystery location Skype calls between classrooms of students. It's a simple idea that rocks with students in an online community. You can find the YouTube recordings of two of Maria's presentations on the topic and a downloadable mp3 rendition of this one athttp://learning2gether.net/2015/05/31/learning2gether-with-maria-colussa-about-mystery-location-calls/This Sunday we had no other volunteers so I will fill in with a contribution about Teaching Writing on iPad and Mobile Devices using Voice Tools, in Hangout on Air, 1400 GMT.
I've been exploring techniques for teaching writing on iPads and mobile devices using voice tools for leaving comments in Google Docs, and in speaking what students write on paper into Google Docs for them, so they can revise more easily. I've also fathomed the trick of importing images into Google Docs on iPad to allow students to incorporate Word Clouds and other images into their documents using iPads.
This was part of a workshop at TESOL 2015 in Toronto:
and my colleagues and I are planning to present similar materials at ISTE in Philadelphia later this month:
In this session, I will attempt at a distance some of what I demonstrate at these events. You can find more information such as time where you are and how to join the Hangout on Air or listen to the stream at http://tinyurl.com/learning2gether or http://webheadsinaction.org/live.Join us, and let's see how it works. As always, we tend to be a conversation, not a talking head presentation, so you can share with us how you teach writing on iPads and mobile devices.
Hope to see you there
