Call for Abstracts: International Journal of Research & Method in Education Special Issue
E-research in Educational Contexts: The Roles of Technologies, Ethics and Social Media
      Guest Editors
Dr Jocelyn Wishart, University of Bristol, UK
Dr Michael Thomas, University of Central Lancashire, UK

The International Journal of Research & Method in Education invites authors to contribute to a special issue exploring the impact and opportunities underlying e-research in education. In particular, we are seeking articles on ways that digital innovations are changing how we think about research, how research is conducted and implications for how we conceptualise education. This would include how online tools and digital technologies can influence data collection opportunities and the related interactions between researchers of different disciplines and between researchers and participants. For this purpose ‘e-research’ is presented as an umbrella term that encompasses all online research methods as well as those involving digital tools for data collection and analysis.

Authors are encouraged to address the following or related themes:
      · using digital tools for research in educational contexts
      · implications of Big data for educational research
      · multi-modal research approaches
      · co-design in digital civics
      · the benefits and challenges associated with online data collection and analysis
      · the relationships between researchers and participants when using online tools and digital technologies
      · the ethics of e-research
      · digital ethnography
      · how are openness and digital research understood and enacted in education
      · social media, connectedness and digital research
      · the use of mobile applications · where technology changes research and the researcher/participant relationship
