CAMARILLO -- The battle between evolution and creationism will heat up
Monday night when supporters of both arguments square off in a debate at the
      Orchid Building.
The event was organized by the Freethinkers of Ventura County.
"We, as freethinkers, don't believe in creationism," said Charlotte Poe,
founder of the group. "In order to do so, you have to believe in God and
believe the world is only 6,000 years old."
Poe, along with other members of the Freethinkers organization, believe
creationism can be taught in public schools, but only as part of world
religions or anthropology classes, not as part of science classes, she said.
