      Please, gentlemen, your assumptions--or biases---are showing. Men are not
      the only humans who whistle.

      Despite proverbs discouraging the habit (and the English saying is:
      Whistling girls and crowing hens always come to some bad end) females do
      whistle with great pleasure, and sometime artistry.

      The reason? Perhaps a mixture of whatever prompts us to make music, and
      the desire to signal. When I was growing up the loudest whistle in the
      neighborhood belonged to the woman next door who would whistle a sliding
      two or three notes (can't remember how many) to indicate to her kids that
      it was time to come home.
