- Aug 20As a friend of mine uses to say, "Time honors the just." Carvalho is by far the single most influential thinker in modern Brazil, having start his fight (I guess there is no other word to describe it) over 30 years ago. His work covers a variety of subjects--philosophy of mind, political philosophy, political science, literary theory, film criticism, etc.; and yet there is no trace of dilettantism in any of his writings on these fields. My only frustration is seeing his name diminished as the "court philosopher" of Bolsonaro. Whereas he certainly is influential in the Bolsonaro administration, this influence is an effect of his general influence in Brazil's society as a whole (unlike, say, Russian Aleksandr Dugin, who seeks being influential in Putin's government).I am pleased to say that the Political Science Reviewer will publish an article of mine on Professor Carvalho in its next issue. I think it'll be the first scholarly essay on Carvalho's thought. I will cover, among other things, Voegelin's influence on his thought and Carvalho's work in political philosophy and its effects in the global geopolitical scenario. I am anxious to share it with you.And Fritz: Carvalho lives in Virginia since 2005!
