I believe the members of this group might be interested in the
European Libertarian Society's new discussion group eu-lib. The idea
is pretty similar to this group plus a (hopefully soon-to-be)
comprehensive link list of libertarian clubs & web sites around
Europe. Below is the invitation and introduction for eu-lib.
Invitation & introduction to eu-lib discussion forum
* Make new contacts with libertarians all around the continent
* Compare your country's freedom with others
* Make the libertarian voice heard throughout all of Europe
Europeans travel a lot. This is not a big continent and it's filled
with countries with varying degrees of freedom. We libertarians
should take advantage of the opportunity to make governments compete
with each other for attracting investors and people. The common
currency among many european countries has already made people
realise how greatly socialist policies affect prices of various goods
(like for example cars or alcohol can be much cheaper where the
taxation is less heavy). But there are many types of regulation in
addition to taxes which affect different countries in different ways
depending on the local laws and they are much less transparent than
taxes that directly affect the prices. Regulation that is taken for
granted in your country may be completely out of the question
somewhere else in Europe. The European Libertarian Society aims to
raise discussion and awareness of how things could be different.
Compare other countries' experiences with regard to regulation or de-
regulation and use the knowledge to your advantage in local debates.
Libertarian ideas are still almost completely unknown to the
mainstream media and public. But the rational argumentation and
strict moral principles which libertarians revere to attract more and
more people all the time. Our numbers are not small and they're
growing rapidly. Our voice deserves to be heard. Although we are not
collectivist by nature, sometimes presenting a unified front is
purposeful. The European Libertarian Society helps you make contact
with other libertarian organizations and individuals when you have
Big scale plans.
Our discussion group, eu-lib, is for all who are interested in a
libertarian perspective of what's happening in Europe - and those who
want to make things happen.
