Ten years after that dreaded SP-UP merger THE ESPEE LIVES ON!!! On Saturday morning August 19, 2006 in Roseville, CA, Union Pacific unveiled it's last of six SD70ACe Heritage units with the Daylight inspired UP 1996! Railfan speculation in the weeks before unveiling pictured Black Widow and Bloody Nose schemes. But as per the other five UP Heritage Units painted over the last year (MP, WP, KMT, DRGW, CNW), a modified passenger paint scheme from the classic age of streamline railroading was once again adopted. Some fans don't like it, a majority seem to like it in one aspect, I LOVE IT!!! (Ryan M. Martin)
Welcome to the ESPEE FOREVER group!
This group is for lovers of the Southern Pacific RR or "Espee" TODAY and represents the "current" and former SP, SSW and DRGW. Other sites have prohibited the continuing coverage of the SP today. Within this group, content regarding UP is permitted IF IT SOMEHOW RELATES TO THE ESPEE (see RULES). Please keep UP content that can be discussed on other groups to a minimum. Feel free to add photos in both prototype and model form. Add comments and/or questions in the "message" section.
The purpose of this group is to talk about the SPRR or in short "ESPEE 4EVER!" Many of us hold a lot of info on the Espee that may exist as the only link to the younger generations. These railfans didn't live too long with the SP or didn't live with the RR at all. Let's keep the SP as the "Friendly" to all of those that show interest.
