Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
So ya wanna learn Enochian, eh? I'm not going to advertise myself as an expert, but I know a thing or two. I'll assume you know a thing or two about magick in general, so I'll skip the boring details. I also don't know what was said elsewhere in this thread.
Enochian, though it has its own system that's been vaguely described by Dee & Kelly, is also usable WITHIN any other system of magick, which is why both the Golden Dawn and others had good results with it. You can use the Keys and other conjurations in any system.
Do you have the Tablets painted yet? If not, go ahead and paint them. Use the Golden Dawn colours, and Dee's latest revision of the Tablets where all of the letters are forward. The Golden Dawn has some squares with multiple letters; these are there because the GD tablets are a composite of all of the revisions that D&K made. While this might seem like a good idea, it lends to confusion when you try to use the tablets to get a name off of them. Pick a revision with one letter per square and stick to it. They all work.
When you paint them, don't use English lettering. Use Enochian characters, and paint them carefully. Remember what each letter is, and you will learn what each letter sounds like just by painting them. Yes, it works. Get some sanded plywood and cut it to size, leaving space on top for the Sigil of the Element, and prime it for acrylic. Start by painting the background of the squares first, then the lines between the squares, and then the letters in flashing colours. They are 12 wide and 13 tall. To include the Sigil, add about 4 or 5 to the height in proportion. 24" wide and 32" tall is enough. The Sigil is best on a black background.
Enochian is written in the direction that Hebrew is written. I always find myself writing it like English, it works either way. Enochian is not Hebrew; it has vowels and only 21 letters.
Dare I write it here? Yes, I've shared it before. The Tablet of Union itself has a revision that I divined from the Angels. It seems to balance everything out when it comes to number and symmetry. The old Tablet of Union is like this and has 20 squares:
The new one is like this and has 25 squares:
IAIDA <--- Means "The Highest"
When you speak Enochian, go slow and pronounce every sound. Some may be blended into others, such as a string of similar vowel sounds. Some words are best pronounced as they seem: BABALON, for instance. It looks like it sounds. However you pronounce it, make it smooth on the tongue and sweet to the ear. The vibrational methods used by the Golden Dawn work well here and you are advised to know these methods. These are hard to describe, but you will know it when you get it right, because the sounds don't seem to come from you, but from the entire universe.
A warning about the Enochian conjurations & etc as portrayed in Golden Dawn and Equinox books: These are usually only the phonetic pronunciations, and though they will do ye well, they are not the transliterated words that are in the calls. It is best to get an Enochian book that has the calls as written and the pronunciations. Also, many Enochian books on the market today are simply reprints of Golden Dawn material. Be careful, and go to a real bookshop if you can so you can see what you're getting. It's too easy to spend hundreds of £$€ and get crap when buying occult books.
I like to write down, in Enochian with English transliteration, the calls I work with, so I can read the Enochian character as I say it during a ritual. It improves the results.
If you need any other ideas, don't hesitate to email me privately.
