      For Janet

      I saw

JANET REAKES GENEALOGY CONSULTANT, AUTHOR & ADOPTION SPECIALIST

Would like to ask you a question re adoption in the UK 1880's
      please...

Are there or would there be any records of the adopted child anywhere?
And where would you go to find them?

I have 2 adopted children in the family..one we were able to trace
back to his mother and he was a family child. His history we found by
accident and proved out ...the other child I believe was a family
child also but cannot prove...both these children were taken to the US
with their adopted parents ....papers were needed to emigrate so some
sort of birth certificate or adoption papers would be needed wouldn't
      they?

I mean people just did not get on a ship bound for a life in another
country without the proper paperwork in the 1890's ..

Wouldn't they have to have gone to court to get the papers to adopt
the child legally ,especially as late as the late 1880's & 1890's...

I just cannot seem to understand how one could adopt a child that late
in the 1800's and not have any papers on the child...

Since its says you are a adoption specialist maby you could tell me
      about this...if you would please

      Thank you
