      Festivals & theatre this October!

      This October is a flurry of activity thanks to a range of festivals in the UAE and Qatar celebrating culture in all its forms.  First up is the fifth edition of the Dubai Festival for Youth Theatre, which kicks off today and runs till 10 October.  Supported by Dubai Culture, the festival will promote emerging theatre talent in the UAE.

      Organised by The Fridge another theatrical event, 'Cirque Du Souq', will bring together spectacular dance, acrobatics, live original music and breathtaking aerial acts to Dubai.  'Cirque Du Souq' will take place on the 7 and 8 October at the Madinat Theatre.

      The world of film will be set alight in the UAE from the 13 - 22 October as Abu Dhabi Film Festival 2011 kicks off.  The programme has recently been announced and you can now plan out your busy film-going schedules, from rare science fiction masterpieces to cutting edge documentaries.

      Over in Doha, Katara Cultural Village will host Qatar's first ever Latin American Cultural Festival from the 6 - 15 October.  It will showcase some of the best in Latin American dance, film and music, bringing together over 230 artists and performers from nine different South American countries.

      Qatar Museums Authority is also organising a show entitled 'The Arab Games Exhibition' which will open at QMA Gallery in Katara on 4 October. The exhibition will coincide with the twelth edition of the Arab Games to be held in Qatar and will chronicle the evolution of the Games since their inception in Alexandria, Egypt back in 1953.
