      Greetings Art Lovers!

      Not long to go now until March and the flurry of artistic activity it will bring. Ahead of the 10th Sharjah Biennial, residents of the city of Sharjah can get directly involved with one of the artist projects commissioned for the Biennial. By submitting information to the Sharjah Infocart, which will be at Mega Mall in Sharjah till the 5th February, you can contribute to a new map of the city made by and for the residents of Sharjah.

      In Dubai, film-goers can take in the best in British cinema with the ongoing UK film season, showing at Reel Cinemas until the 15th March 2011; in addition to the British films, selected Emirati shorts will be also be screened before the main feature. Don’t miss your last chance to see the haunting film ‘Never Let Me Go’, preceded by ‘Amal’s Cloud’ today.

      Continuing with the British focus, from the 8th to 15th February, the popular du Jazz Garden returns to offer up a fantastic series of jazz performances in the run up to the Dubai Jazz Festival. This year the Jazz Garden follows the theme the UK Jazz Scene and there will be a great line-up of UK-based jazz artists along with musicians from Trippin ‘N’ Rhythm Records.

      New details of Global Art Forum_5 have just been released and the range of talks and discussions will kick off on the 14th March in Doha at the newly opened Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art before moving to Dubai on the 16th March. We take a look at some of this year’s topics and new features in our article.

      It’s also our next instalment of interviews with the 2011 Abraaj Capital Art Prize winners, and this time we’re talking to Jananne Al-Ani. Al-Ani’s practice is one of the most established and long running among the ACAP winners and we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.
