Subject: [ellwood] Descendants of John Ellwood (1819-1892)

I've uploaded a file to the GEDCOM files section on the descendants of John
Ellwood, son of Robert Ellwood and Martha Saxon.

A while ago I asked if someone could send us a GEDCOM of the descendants of
John's elder brother Tom, and Genie Zappanti very kindly did so.

I tried to send the GEDCOM file of John's descendants to her, but it seems
that her mail reader insists on treating it as part of the message and
displaying it, rather than as an attached file. I'm not sure why that should
be, but since a Gedcom file is an Ascii file, it should be possible to save
such a message as a text file, trim off the extraneous materuial at the
beginning and the end, and import it from there. But I've uploaded it as
      well, just in case.

We''ve just been getting it up to daye. We recently found that John Ellwood's
daughter Margaret married a Thomas Litster, and emigrated to Australia. We
have tried to make contact with the Australian descendants, but without
success, so we've added what we've been able to find from online sources.

Our brick wall at the moment is John Ellwood's wife, Bridget Anderson (also
born in Whitehaven in 1819). We know her father was John Anderson, but that's
it. We don't even know her mother's name.

We're also trting to follow up Robert Ellwood and Martha Saxon's other
children and their descendants. I believe that some of them also went to the
USA - does anyone else know more?

      Keep well,
      Steve Hayes
