  • As some of you already know, one of my friends is getting married next month and has asked me to translate a line for FOTR to Quenya to inscribe on their wedding rings. After many different attempts and bugging them, they have finally decided on one that was actually suggested on a group. This is what I have, please look it over because this is going on their wedding rings, so it...

  • Mae Govannen! A friend of mine is getting married soon and wants a phrase from FOTR translated into Quenya and etched onto their wedding rings in the Tenqwar. A much better Quenya translator and myself have the following as our first attempts at the translation and I would adore any comments/suggestions. Given the fact that this is something she and her husband will have on their...

  • Dan Smith's Tenquar fonts is the best place to start. http://www.gis.net/~dansmith/fonts/tengwar.htm He also has many help resources to learn how to use this font, since it does not work like any other font one would normally encounter. Hope that helps get you started. Elvensong --- "macilwen " wrote: > Hi everyone! > > Can I ask where in the world can you learn or > download...

  • That was it! That was my problem! Thanks so much, the other font hid itself away and I had to search for it. Your help is very appreciated! Thank you once more! Officially going back to lurking. • Aldanende, You it's really confusing me too. I'm using Sindarin normal font. I tried just translating it directly on Tengscribe and I still get the right symbols, but with funny spaces everywhere and again, no markings above the letters. I might try the other font package and install that and see it if that works. I'm so close to having it all set up here, this is driving me...

  • Aldanende, It's not the typing I'm having problems with, I have Tengscribe. Say I want to put the ring's black speech into Tenquar, I would begin by typing: AE5,Ex The translation does give me upper and lower case to type, can I just type it with lower case all around, because, as I said, the upper case is not working and I was wondering what you do when you type it? Do you just...

  • I'm working on my Tenqwar fonts (Daniel Smith) and am doing well except for a small problem and I was hoping for some advice. When I put my computer to caps lock to type some letters, all I get is a blank space, but the curser moves as though I had typed something. Also, when I type things look very close to the way they should except I am getting no symbols in the form of the...

  • Nope, that's just with the Tenqwar. In English numbers are written from left to right as normal, just like German and Spanish. • Ok, I've been doing research into writing, a very involved process. I have one question about the three words wolfiina's been working on. Most sites that I have found have the vowels as symbols above or below the tengwar. Wolkiina is using a different symbol for "e" than I found. Is there two ways of thinking on this one? Thanks! • Thank you very much for all the information. It has helped me begin this challenge. I can see now that this is a very difficult task and has no straight answers. However, I'm looking forward to learning. I just have another question, in my searching I'm also looking for the best dictionary of english to elvish or vise versa. There are many out there I have found, but is there one...
