      hey, everyone...

Thanks for all the help. I decided to dive into the Quenya Course (in PDF)
over at Ardalambion. I was wondering if anyone knew of a decent
downloadable Quenya dictionary? I know I'm supposed to forget about the
Grey Company people...but they did a damn good job at putting their version
together. Anything like that available as well?

Thanks for all your help...I've been studying like a madman
      today...haha...minor obsession, I believe.

There is NOT a single reliable dictionary of the Elvish languages
on-line, and that included those dic. found on the Ardalambion site,
which are far from being flawless, mixing things into a Mish-mash
Ardalambion Elvish, not Tolkien's, but which, because many "fans" do
not want to spend time reading Tolkiens'Books and take for granted
what they read, is quite fashionable nowadays.

                  Read Tolkiens' books! ;-)

Of course you have a distaste for everything related to Helge or to
Ardalambion, but for those looking for a reliable wordlst, they would be
                      hard pressed to find one better than Helge's. Every entry is attested;
there are no Neo-Quenya coinages there. He provides the roots from the
Etymologies when known, and often where the words are found in the
published sources. If you object to the wordlist because Tolkien did not
compile it himself, shouldn't we consider the contents of "Le
dictionnaire de langues elfiques" to be 'Mish-mash Kloczko Elvish, not

It is a strange fact that a few years ago, Edouard complimented one of the
wordlists he is now criticizing. At the time he didn't know it was I who
                          had compiled it, though...

I do not think my wordlists are in all respects beyond criticism; in
particular, I mix Quenya and Qenya forms somewhat more indiscriminately
than I would have done if I had compiled them now. Yet references are
provided throughout, so discerning users of these lists can tell what layer
of material any word comes from.
