                          Hello everybody,

My name is Antonio Carmona. I was born in Almera (Spain) 41 years ago. I have been living in Puertollano (La Mancha of Don Quixote) for more than 30 years now, that is the reason why I really feel I belong here. We -my two brothers and I- own a garage in this town, where we repair cars. Well, at least we try our best.

Quite apart from that, I study History at the Spanish Open University (UNED). Prehistory and prehistoric art are some of the subjects I am especially interested in. I enjoy long walks in the countryside almost every weekend, trying to find traces of our ancestors (paintings on rock shelters, pieces of pottery, ) Sometimes I write about it in local newspapers and magazines. Some of my articles are placed on the website www.clubcaminos.com, (Patrimonio Arqueolgico) they are written in Spanish though, so they wont be any help for those who are trying to learn English.

Then, English culture and language mean a great fascination (should I say obsession?) to me. I used to go to England (Matlock Derbyshire-) many years ago. I discovered there a singular society, new music and a new conception of life. Perhaps, that happened to me in an age, when you tend to get impressed easily, and when Spain used to be such a different country to what it is now. In fact, I worked as a teacher of English for children in Madrid for a few years, and I consider that experience as one of the most amusing periods of my life. By the way, I had a great satisfaction last year. I sat a Proficiency in English exam and I passed it. Anyway, I know that learning a foreign language comprises hard, endless and, in many occasions, frustrating work.

Well, I suppose that the previous paragraph explains why I am interested in this kind of language course, as I hope to learn as much as possible and practice my English, while I enjoy the companionship of so many people from different countries and cultures. I havent done this before, because I have never been really familiarized with internet, but some changes in my own job (the garage, remember?) have forced me to learn, although I am completely unaware of some aspects you mention on your website (chatting, for example).

I have to leave you. I will be looking forward to hearing from you all. By for now. Best wishes.

                          Antonio Carmona
