      National Environmental Education Week Hosts

      2007 Photo Contest

The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF), the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History (RTPI), and Canon U.S.A., Inc., are pleased to announce a National Photo Contest to celebrate National Environmental Education (EE) Week, April 15 - 22, 2007.

Now in its third consecutive year, EE Week (www.EEWeek.org) seeks to enhance the educational impact of Earth Day (April 22nd) and provide recognition to American educators that are committed to implementing environmental education in their classrooms.

The EE Week Photo Contest will be judged by representatives from RTPI and will be open to students in grades K-12 in both formal classroom settings and non-formal outlets (e.g. zoos, nature centers, and parks). The photo contest will offer two categories for entry:

      · Wildlife Explorations, for photos of wildlife observed during National EE Week. Photos in this category must not contain persons or non-natural objects.

      · Hands on the Outdoors, for photos of children engaged in outdoor environmental learning during National EE Week.

An Elementary School (K-4th grade), Middle School (5-8th grade) and High School (9-12th grade) winner will be chosen for each of the two categories. Winning photographers will each receive a copy of a Peterson Field Guide to Natural History, and the six schools/organizatio ns that are associated with the winners will each receive a digital camera donated by Canon U.S.A., Inc.

For complete contest rules, including submission requirements and contest deadlines, go to www.EEWeek.org/ gallery_rules. h tm. Questions can be directed to EEWeek@neefusa. org.
