      "Powering Our Future"

      AFRE Thematic Workshop

      Fountain Hills

Participants in this FREE one-day event will earn 7.5 professional
development hours. This energy-themed workshop is particularly timely
in light of recent concerns about oil prices and availability.
Developed by SRP, "Powering Our Future" focuses upon Arizona's future
power needs and alternative power options.

The workshop includes complete lesson plans with an Understanding by
Design component, as well as extensive background information for
educators. The information and materials provided will allow teachers
to develop curriculum for their own grade level that addresses
Arizona Academic Standards in science, social studies, mathematics
      and language arts.

Join us as we delve into this rich collection of explorations into
natural resources, energy conservation, and renewable energy
technologies. For more information about this and other workshops or
to register, visit http://afre. org/thematic. htm or call the Arizona
Foundation for Resource Education (AFRE) at 602-266-4417.

interesting article about how AFRE is helping teachers to use
technology to connect with students and leverage online learning
