      Handwashing

      Poster Contest

      Sponsored by: Oklahoma City Area Indian Health Service

      Call for Native American Artists, Kindergarten to 12th Grade

      CONTEST RULES

      1) All entries must be created by a Native American school aged child, original work without the aid from others.

      2) One entry per child.

      3) 8 ½” x 11” or 11” x 17” poster size, no foam boards.

      4) Pencil, crayon, paint, colored pencils, markers, and ink may be used.

      5) Poster should encourage, teach or promote proper hand washing.

      6) All entries must have the following on the back of the poster: student’s full name, last grade completed, age, tribal affiliation, and contact information.

      7) Posters must be received by August 08, 2006 by Oklahoma City Area Indian

      Health Service, Division of Health Care Systems, 3625 NW 56th Street,

      5 Corporate Plaza, Oklahoma City, OK 73112-4519.

      8) All posters submitted become the property of OCA-IHS with the right to use the posters for publicity, publications and advertisements.

      9) Entries will be placed and judged in three categories:

      1) Kindergarten -4th grade 2) 5th – 8th grade 3) 9th – 12th grade.

      10) Four criteria will be used to determine top entries for each age group:

      • Artistic Merit (use of color, poster design and layout)
      • Poster Message (related to proper hand washing)
      • Originality (unique, clever and/or creative design)
      • Neatness (free of spelling and grammatical errors and/or stray marks)

      11) Top three entries in each category will be awarded with cash prizes (1st $75, 2nd $50, 3rd $25). All posters will be displayed during the 2006 OCA Indian Health Summit in Tulsa, OK, September 12 – 13, 2006 and used in promoting proper hand washing throughout the Oklahoma City Area.

      12) Winners will be notified the week of August 21, 2006.
