      The Education Coordinator for the Global Institute of Sustainability
      (GIOS) at Arizona State University develops and implements K-12
      educational programming for a variety of interdisciplinary urban ecology
      and sustainability projects in the Phoenix area

      http://caplter.asu.edu/explorers>. The Coordinator is also involved in
      the development of web-based activities, informational materials, and
      displays.



      Initially the Education Coordinator will be responsible for educational
      outreach activities for the Decision Center for a Desert City, including
      the coordination of an undergraduate internship program, and Service at
      Salado, a service learning project delivered through after-school
      science clubs in middle schools. Brief projects descriptions and links

      is a 100% fiscal year academic associate appointment (not on track) and
      reports to the Education Manager for GIOS.



      Required qualifications are a B.A./B.S. in any natural or social science
      area related to the environment, and post-baccalaureate experience in
      delivering environmental education programs to K-12 schoolchildren.



      Desired qualifications are a M.A./M.S. in any natural or social science
      area related to the environment; demonstrated experience coordinating
      and training part-time and volunteer staff to deliver balanced
      environmental and sustainability information; demonstrated experience in
      developing educational programs.



      Salary will be in the range of $35,000 to $40,000 per year, plus fringe
      benefits. Initial appointment will be for one year, with subsequent
      renewal based upon performance, the needs of the department, and
      availability of funding. A background check is required for employment.
      The position involves local travel and participation in evening and
      weekend events.
