      JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

      Student Office Assistant

      The Navajo Nation Archaeology Department is looking for a student office
      assistant for the Northern Arizona University branch office. The Office
      Assistant will work under general supervision; perform a variety of
      clerical/office support work of limited scope.

      Duties and Responsibilities:
      * Greet and assist incoming clients/visitors.
      * Handle multi-line telephone: answering, directing incoming calls, and
      taking accurate messages.
      * Handle confidential and sensitive information.
      * Word processing and data entry duties.
      * Mail collection, distribution, and processing outgoing mail.
      * Maintains office filing system for NNAD documents.
      * Operates office equipment: phone/fax, copier, typewriter, computer
      and printer.
      * Other duties as assigned by Sr. Office Specialist and/or Program
      Manager.
      Knowledge and Skills:
      * Knowledge of basic clerical and office support practices and procedures.
      * Must be responsible, reliable, conscientious, and highly
      organized/efficient.
      * Good professional and interpersonal skills.
      * Must possess excellent computer skills and knowledge (Microsoft
      Office software: Word, Access, Excel; Internet; Eudora)
      * Skill in operating office equipment.
      * Skill in preparing a variety of records, reports, and correspondence
      using typewriter and computer software.
      * Skill in maintaining filing and records systems.
      * Skill in following oral and written instructions.
      * Skill in English composition, grammar and punctuation.
      * Skill in preparing clear and comprehensive reports.
      * Skill in speaking Navajo is preferred, but not required.
      Minimum Qualifications:
      Applicant must be enrolled at Northern Arizona University with a minimum of
      6 credit hours. Maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA or better each semester
      while employed. Applicant must have at least one year office experience.

      Working Hours & Pay Rate:
      20 hours/week, M-F Between 8am-5pm, $7.91/hour for the fall semester 2004
      and may extend into the spring 2005 semester.

      Application Process:
      Submit a completed Navajo Nation for Employment Application and current
      resume to NNAD-NAU; a Fall 2004 schedule of classes; and work times
      available Monday through Friday (in 2-3 hour blocks). Qualified applicants
      will be called for an interview.
