      Full Time Commitments (1700 hours, one year)
      October 2011 - September 2012

      Willow Bend Environmental Education Center is seeking applicants for both our Outreach & Development Assistant and Environmental Educator positions. These positions are critical in helping Willow Bend remain funded and provide environmental education to Flagstaff, Parks, and Williams. 
       
       
       

      *Outreach & Development Assistant*

       
      AmeriCorps Service Assignment Description:
      1.   Assist with grant writing and fundraising activities
      2.   Help with marketing and PR
      3.   Assist with general office tasks
      4.   Participate in Willow Bend activities such as open hours, interacting with community walk-ins, Family Science Nights, Art Walks, etc.
      5.   Represent Willow Bend at special events and community events.
       
      AmeriCorps Member Qualifications:
      1.   Familiarity with Willow Bend
      2.   Experience with grant writing and fundraising
      3.   Knowledge of database systems
      4.   Excellent written communication skills
      5.   Independent and self motivated
      6.   Interest in nature and sustainable living (willingness to "walk the talk")
      7.   Flexible with a sense of humor
      8.   Creative
      9.   Organized
       

      * Environmental Educator *
       

      AmeriCorps Service Assignment Description:
      1.   Teach environmental education classes 2-3 days per week in local schools (PreK-12th)
      2.   Lead field trips and Family Science events at    Willow Bend
      3.   Participate in Community Events (Earth Day, Science in the Park, etc.)
      4.   Assist with development of new Discovery Room exhibits and new classroom programs.
       
      AmeriCorps Member Qualifications:
      1. Experience or strong desire to teach
      2. Enjoy working with children
      3. Independent and self-motivated
      4. Organized
      5. Patient and kind
      6. Comfortable speaking to small groups
      7. Curious nature—a desire to learn
      8. Good sense of humor and fun
      9. Interest in nature and sustainable living (willingness to "walk the talk")
