The Northern Arizona Power of Data (NAZPOD) Project
Seeking Applicants for 2010-2011 Academic Year

The Northern Arizona Power of Data (NAZPOD) project bridges the gap between the career and technical education (CTE) world and the academic world through embedded partnerships. Working as a problem-solving team, teachers model the critical interdependence of science and technology in STEM careers as they implement challenge-based, subject and technology-integrated learning experiences in their classrooms. Students learn Earth Science content and 21st century workforce skills as they collect and analyze data using geographic information systems (GIS) software, and then use that data as evidence to communicate their solutions to local problems.

Applications are being accepted now through August 2, 2010. Deadline Extended to August 31, 2010 but hurry, space is limited!

A team of one secondary (7-12) Career and Technical Education teacher and one Science or Math teacher from the same school must apply together. Upon completion, participants will receive:

      ·         $1000 stipend

      ·         Up to 70 professional development seat hours

      ·         Tuition assistance for optional 3 graduate credits

      ·         ArcGIS desktop software site licenses for their schools ($6000 value)

      ·         Mobile data collection devices and resource materials for their schools ($4000 value)

      ·         Monthly professional learning experiences and opportunities to implement new skills and ideas throughout the academic year

      ·         On-site and online support

Applicants must commit to participation in monthly professional development institutes at Northern Arizona University’s Flagstaff, Arizona Mountain Campus.
