      Dear Educators,
Please see the program details below and consider applying for the 2014 STARS Chemistry and Physics Summer Workshops for Teachers.
      Workshop Description:
In each workshop teachers will be coached by master teachers as they deliver lessons and lab exercises to students.  The workshop in biology has been going on since it was initiated in 2007 with funding by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.  Many teachers considered it the best professional development experience ever and continue to use the resources available to this day.  Teachers who are not completely comfortable directing laboratory exercises especially profit from this experience.  Its success as a best practice (determined by the HHMI) encouraged us to begin parallel workshops in chemistry and physics last summer.  Students are offered incentives, and teachers receive stipends.  Although open to all Chemistry or Physics teachers, those from schools that serve mainly under-represented or economically disadvantaged student populations are especially encouraged to apply.
The dates of the workshops in 2014 are as follows:
2014 Chemistry Workshop for Teachers - July 2-18 except July 4 (rising 10th graders arrive on July 7)
