CharterTeach is looking for Great Teachers

ATTENTION:  LOOKING FOR GREAT TEACHERS:  If you have spent at least a year as a lead, full-time classroom teacher, continue to put your talents to work for students in a charter school.

What CharterTeach does: CharterTeach identifies exceptional public charter schools and then works in collaboration with these Partner Schools to award highly selective fellowships to outstanding, experienced teachers attracted to the innovation and promise of the charter movement. CharterTeach Fellows receive a teaching position at a Partner School and $5,000 over two years towards their professional development. Public schools in low-income, urban areas get the inspired teachers they need, and Fellows enjoy the exhilarating teaching environments they desire.

Why CharterTeach does it: Leaders with teaching experience are extremely valuable people, yet nearly 50% of all new teachers leave urban classrooms within three years.  CharterTeach exists to reward and retain talented educators.

To apply or learn more:  For more information on what our Teaching Fellowship Program has to offer you, a teacher you know, or your school; please visit us on the web at www.charterteach.org <http://www.charterteach.org> There you can either download an application or fill one out online.  The early application deadline for the 2002-2003 Fellowship Program is February 4, 2002 and the final deadline is March 4th.  Late applications will be accepted until May 9th.  Also, feel free to contact David Ling at 650-593-2924 or david@... <mailto:david@...> with any questions.

Charter schools are in need of extraordinary teachers who will move kids forward from day one and will lead their community-centered efforts to build excellent schools.  Will you be one of them?
