      BAEO Seeking Director of Chapter Development

      THE BLACK ALLIANCE FOR EDUCATIONAL OPTIONS (BAEO) HAS THE FOLLOWING POSITION AVAILABLE:

      POSITION: Director of Chapter Development and Field Operations
      LOCATION: Washington, DC

      BAEO is a nonpartisan, national organization whose mission is to actively support parental choice to empower families and increase educational options for black children. BAEO is a national leader in advancing high quality educational opportunities for children in grades K - 12 and empowering parents with the knowledge and information necessary to make good choices for their children's education. BAEO currently has 22 chapters in major cities throughout the United States.

      RESPONSIBILITIES:

      - Coordinate, administer and promote chapter development efforts.
      - Provide technical assistance to local chapters strategic planning, fundraising and program development efforts.
      - Coordinate the development of training/learning opportunities for leadership of local BAEO chapters.
      - Coordinate quarterly and annual assessments of local chapters and affiliates and guide the evaluation process.
      - Responsible for evaluation of local chapter effectiveness at meeting their goals and objectives.
      - Provide technical assistance to ensure chapter compliance with national office and federal/state reporting guidelines and regulations.
      - Support local coalition building efforts.
      - Assist in the coordination of grassroots education, membership and resource development campaigns.
      - Represent BAEO among local and national education, civil rights, and policymaking organizations.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      - Bachelors degree (or equivalent experience) plus 2 years experience in program management and community development.
      - Must be committed to the educational development of Black children, advancing parental choice in education, and the mission of the Black Alliance for Educational Options.
      - Sufficient knowledge of education options (see www.baeo.org) and education issues in the African American community.
      - Experience working with nonprofit organizations, parents and young adults.
      - Experience in program and project management and group facilitation/training.
      - Experience with grant/proposal writing and strategic planning.
      - Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
      - Proficiency with general office & computer technology, office software applications, use of the internet and email.
      - Demonstrated ability to handle numerous projects efficiently, effectively and simultaneously.
      - Demonstrated ability to set goals and meet deadlines.
      - Must be able and willing to work effectively and respectfully with people of diverse backgrounds.
