      PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
      The mission of Summer Search is to find resilient, low-income high
      school students and inspire them to become responsible and
      altruistic leaders by providing year-round mentoring, life-changing
      summer experiences, college advising, and a lasting support network.

      Summer Search provides full scholarships to life-changing summer
      experiential trips for high-potential, low-income high school
      students who otherwise would not have these opportunities.

      OPPORTUNITY
      Summer Search Silicon Valley is one of six offices nationwide. In
      this, our first year, we are sending twenty students on life-
      changing wilderness expeditions across the nation. Within three
      years, we aim to send 100 students on experiential summer programs
      around the world.

      We work with high schools along the Peninsula and in San Jose—
      currently from Redwood City in the north to San Jose in the south.
      This summer, we plan to relocate to San Jose, giving our students
      increased public transportation access to our office.

      POSITION INFORMATION
      The program associate is responsible for general administrative
      duties as well as growing in to a mentoring role within six months.
      He or she will work closely with the Executive Director, National
      Founder, CEO, and staff from regional offices. The ideal candidate
      will be comfortable working in a diverse, team-oriented office as
      well as open to self-refection.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
      -Strong understanding and belief in Summer Search's core values and
      program model
      -General administrative duties—answering phones, purchasing office
      supplies, database entry and maintenance, processing mail, routing
      information, creating a filing system, and taking minutes
      -Assisting with the coordination and implementation of student
      programming, including liaising with referral sources and summer
      programs, special events, evaluation and outcomes measurement,
      newsletter and other projects.
      -Learning the unique Summer Search mentoring methods

      QUALIFICATIONS
      -Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
      -Flexibility and eagerness to learn and work on different tasks as
      needed
      -Excellent organizational and project management skills
      -Sense of humor
      -Strong command of Microsoft Office applications and familiarity
      with database operations
      -One to four years of work experience after college preferred
      -Bi-lingual English-Spanish a plus
