      We are looking for founding principals and assistant principals to
      open new public high schools in South Los Angeles. Each school will
      welcome a freshman class of 140 students in fall 2006. Schools will
      grow grade by grade until reaching a capacity of approximately 525
      students in grades 9-12. This is a very exciting opportunity for
      passionate, entrepreneurial educators seeking to transform public
      education in Los Angeles.


      The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

      - A passion for improving urban high schools and driving education
      reform
      - Relevant masters or equivalent degree (administrative credential)
      - Substantial teaching experience, preferably at the high school
      level, with a history of improving student achievement
      - Experience working in an urban school setting
      - Demonstrated leadership capabilities
      - Proven management and team building skills
      - Experience managing budgets, creating and implementing policies
      - Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills
      - Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment
      - Prior administrative experience and bilingual/bi-literate in
      Spanish preferred

        JOB OPENINGS: ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS

        Position Summary

        We are looking for six founding Assistant Principals to open new
        public high schools in South Los Angeles. Each school will welcome a
        freshman class of 140 students in fall 2006. Schools will grow grade
        by grade until reaching a capacity of approximately 525 students in
        grades 9-12. This is a very exciting opportunity for passionate,
        entrepreneurial educators seeking to transform public education in

        Candidate Profile
        The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

        Summary of Responsibilities for Green Dot Assistant Principals

        Assistant Principals work 210 days per year. Responsibilities are
        assigned by the Principal, and therefore vary at each Green Dot
        school site. Assistant Principals should be prepared to perform any
        of the following duties:

        • Evaluation of teachers and classified staff
        • Supervision of instruction and curriculum development
        • Student discipline
        • Facilitate and create weekly staff development
        • Monitor student achievement via state test scores, school-based
        and classroom-based assessments, and Green Dot-wide assessments
        • Parent education and outreach
        • Devise school calendar and bell schedule in collaboration with
        teachers
        • Monitor student attendance and create a School Attendance Review
        Board
        • Develop a school-site governance board for decision-making
        • Monitor special education
        • Monitor athletics and extracurricular activities
        • Fundraising
        • Community outreach
        • Monitor student support services – counseling, intervention
        programs, etc.
        • Monitor school budget
        • Order state testing materials for CST, AP, CAHSEE, CELDT, etc.
        • Supervision of students at break, lunch, after school, and passing
        periods
        • Development of summer school budget and summer school schedule
        • Hire teachers for regular school year and summer school
        • Student recruitment
        • Monitor student wait lists
