      New Schools Venture Fund is a non-profit venture philanthropy fund
      created by technology venture capitalists and entrepreneurs. New
      Schools is employing a new approach to improve public K-12
      education----investing in and supporting quality education
      entrepreneurs. Initiated by John Doerr and Brook Byers of the Silicon
      Valley venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins, Caufield and Byers, New
      Schools leverages the expertise, intuition and resources of a powerful
      network of New Economy pioneers in order to help promising non-profit
      and for-profit education ventures succeed.

      New Schools invests in ventures that are scalable, sustainable, have a
      direct impact on student achievement and are working to fundamentally
      improve the K-12 public education system. New Schools is also building
      and supporting a strong community of education entrepreneurs.

      Job Description
      The New Schools Venture Fund seeks a portfolio manager to manage the
      portfolio process from screening potential deals, through conducting
      due diligence, to closing New Schools investments (both non-profit and
      for-profit). The portfolio manager will work to ensure that New
      Schools is fulfilling its mission by investing in a diversified
      portfolio of education entrepreneurial ventures. The position reports
      to the President, and will work collaboratively with a small team.

      Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
      * Network to identify ventures with excellent educational outcomes
      * Lead due diligence on promising ventures (assess team, financials,
      * Conduct analysis, create materials to support decision making process
      * Manage deal closing process including working with team to establish
      appropriate educational outcomes benchmarks
      * Create, implement and monitor venture reporting process
      * Collaborate with NS management team to match portfolio ventures with
      board members; support NS board members
      * Conduct strategic industry mapping of key leverage areas
      * Conduct market analysis to understand trends and opportunities in the
      education space
      * Collaborate with New Schools management team to continuously refine
      portfolio investment strategy particularly as it relates to technology

      * Committed to the belief that education entrepreneurs can transform
      public education
      * Strategic thinker
      * Experience working with entrepreneurial ventures
      * Strong analytical skills including but not limited to:
      --Financial analysis
      --Synthesis of ambiguous data
      --Ability to identify key issues and risks
      * Demonstrated experience with financial modeling and financial
      statement analysis
      * Strong organization skills
      * Ability to manage the ambiguity and multiple priorities inherent in
      an entrepreneurial environment
      * MBA preferred
